Roots...

Ganyuudou name origins from the Ganyuu clan, a samurai clan the founder of Ganyuudou belongs to.

At the end of the Edo period, the founder relinquished his samurai status and moved to Hamamatsu city. Here, they have been making traditional Japanese Wagashi for the people of Hamamatsu for over 150 years.

The company is currently led by the 5th generation, Chef Uchida, keeping tradition close to mind, while infusing new creations to his Wagashi.

In 2017, due to urbanization, Ganyuudou relocated to a new home, situated next to the ground of one of the oldest shrine, Kabashin-Meigun, in Hamamatsu city.

Chef Uchida is also actively promoting Wagashi globally. In the recent years Ganyuudou had opened a store in Tokyo and Bangkok, Thailand. He also participates in overseas events, presenting Ganyuudou’s Wagashi to the world.
